The guitar ensemble “Piratas de la guitarra” was created in 2015 under the direction and teaching of guitarist Letta Vassiliou. It is made up of guitarists of all ages, while the transcriptions of the works are by well-known Greek composers and arrangers. The ensemble hopes to gain many experiences by performing works by foreign and Greek composers, with a particular preference for film music.
It has performed at the Dithyrambs Theater in Marousi, at the Hellenic-German Association Philadelphia in Polydrosso, at the “Kostas Paschalis” Hall at the Kodaly Conservatory, at the Cyclades Art Gallery, at the Hermitage of the Brothers of Mercy and at the Apollon Theater in Syros, at the Stoa Bibliou, at the Flisvos Cultural Center, at the Panetolio Cultural Center, at the Hellenic-American Union in Athens, at the Parnassos Hall, at the Musifanto Classical Music Festival in Sifnos and at the Rematia Theater in Chalandri.
It has been awarded third prize in the ensemble category at the 7th Paleo Faliro Guitar Festival.
The ensemble ceased operations in 2020 due to Covid-19 safety measures and was re-formed with new members, composition and repertoire in October 2023.
