Michael Sourvinos


Born in Athens-Greece. He studied Classical Guitar, Music Theory, Composition, Saxophone, Piano at Southeastern College.
He took  his soloist Degree and Postgraduate diploma in Classical Guitar with Honors from the “Conservatory of Thessaloniki” and ‘’Piraeus municipal conservatory’’ near Professor Costas Cotsiolis. He took his Degree in Music Theory from the “Athenaeum Conservatory” near Professor Chr. Xanthoudakis.

As a solo guitar and mandolin player he has collaborated with the “ State Athens Orchestra», the  “State Orchestra of Colours” , the “String Orchestra of the Municipality of Athens” conducted by L.Brouwer, L.  Karitinos, M. Logiadis e.t.c.
He has performed as soloist at the “Las Palmas International Guitar Festival”, the “Volos International Guitar Festival”, “Naxos International Guitar Festival”,  the “International Nafplion Festival”, the “International Euro Art Meeting” at Wroclaw- Poland, the “Athens International Guitar Festival” at ‘Forum Gitarre Wien 2011’ e.t.c. He has also performed with important artists and Ensembles in Greece, France, Germany, Cyprus, Egypt, Turkey, Belgium, Sweden, Switzerland.
He has also participated in masterclasses with: L.Brouwer, P. Bellinati, H. Kuppel, M. Socias, Z. Dukic. He has conducted masterclasses at The Music University of Vasteras-Stockholm and in several festivals in Greece. He has often participated as a committee member at international guitar competitions.

He has been awarded with the First Prize at “20th International Guitar Festival of Volos” , the First Prize at the “9th Las Palmas Guitar Festival (Canary Islands) , the First Prize with the “Classical Mandolin Orchestra of Athens”, at the “5th International Competition” at   Julich – Koslar (Germany) and the Third Prize with “Romido Cuerda Quartet” at the International Guitar Competition at Osnabruck of Germany in 2004.

He is teaching guitar and mandolin at the Nakas conservatory,  Hellenic Conservatory, Athens College conservatory at the Contemporary Conservatory of Athens etc. Several of his students have been awarded in Classical Guitar Competitions
He is a member of the “Fuego Guitar Ttrio”  and the artistic director of the “Athens Chamber Ensemble 2012”
