Matteo Chiodini

Matteo Chiodini was born in Cittadella (Padua) in 1998. He studied with Pier Luigi Corona at the “Tartini” Conservatory in Trieste, and with Arturo Tallini, Giovanni Puddu, and Matteo Mela at the “Incontri col Maestro” Academy in Imola, where he graduated with highest honors, distinction, and a special commendation, completing a thesis on the Catalan composer Roberto Gerhard. He also appeared as a speaker at the conference dedicated to Gerhard at the Biblioteca de Catalunya in Barcelona.

He began studying guitar at the age of nine under the guidance of Gianluca Sabbadin, later continuing with Carla Vazzola, Andrea Bolinelli, and Franco Saretta. He has won prizes in numerous national and international competitions, including the “Mercatali” in Gorizia, the “Paganini” in Parma, the “Città di Padova,” the “Rospigliosi” in Lamporecchio, the “Concorso di Piove di Sacco,” the “Diapason d’oro” in Pordenone, among others.

As a soloist, he has performed at major festivals such as the “Castelnuovo-Tedesco” Festival in Treviso for Asolo Musica, Imola Summer Music, Sei Corde d’Autunno, the Festival d’Albe in Avezzano (L’Aquila), Ateneo Musica Basilicata, Piccolo Opera Festival, Trieste Prima, the Music Academy of the University of Novi Sad (Serbia), and the Áureo Herrero Festival in Ávila (Spain). Thanks to a recent collaboration with CIDIM, he has performed for the Italian Cultural Institutes of Istanbul (Turkey), Athens (Greece), and — in duo with flutist Euridice Pezzotta — at the Arab Music Center in Cairo (Egypt).

He has attended advanced courses at the Praeneste Academy in Rome with Arturo Tallini, later becoming his assistant for the Omniaguitar summer courses. He was also awarded the Diploma of Merit for two consecutive years at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena in Giovanni Puddu’s class.

He is currently working on the revision of Mauro Giuliani’s music for voice and guitar and has recently published the collection Le Troubadour du Nord by the same composer, featuring both previously unpublished works and transcriptions (Patron, 2025).

Alongside his guitar studies, he has pursued orchestral conducting, recently completing the two-year program under Marco Angius at the “Tartini” Conservatory in Trieste. As a conductor, he has worked on several operatic titles, including Henry Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas and Benjamin Britten’s The Turn of the Screw.

He plays a cedar guitar built in 2022 by the luthier Mirko Migliorini  from Lecco.
